Friday August 23, 2013 “A Man Mocked”

Yesterday we saw that Micaiah was hated because of his stand for truth.  Today we will see he was also mocked for his belief.  1 Kings 22:24 “Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?”
Some people hate people secretly while some hate others outwardly.  Such is the case with this verse.   The prophet is struck in anger and mockery.  The Roman soldiers did this to Jesus Christ in His scourging.
Smiting the speaker did not break the teeth of truth in either case and it will not work today.  Our life and words will cause some to mock us.  We have seen this happen to sports players and politicians in recent times, but truth has not failed in its mission to influence and bring change.
Let us pray today for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are publicly mocked because of their public stand for truth.  May we also agree in prayer that those who mock will experience conviction in their hearts of the wrong they are doing to those who only do and say what is right and will restore blessing to our land.
