Sunday December 1, 2013 “Preach It!”

Here we are – another Sunday evening to agree on earth concerning needed change in America lest we go the way of destruction many nations have experienced through the ages.
Beginning tonight with our three focus points in prayer we will continue throughout the week looking at Nehemiah Chapter 8.  Thanks for joining us and do pass on the word so others can be brought into the “We Are The People” family every Sunday evening from 6-9pm.
Hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving!
Nehemiah 8:1-3 “Now all the people gathered together as one man in the open square that was in front of the Water Gate; and they told Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses, which the Lord had commanded Israel. So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly of men and women and all who could hear with understanding on the first day of the seventh month. Then he read from it in the open square that was in front of the Water Gate from morning until midday, before the men and women and those who could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law.”
Prayer Focus #1:  That Christians across America will have a desire to read and hear God’s Word as we see in verse 1.
Prayer Focus #2:  Ezra was both a Scribe and a Priest.  People looked to him for the word from heaven.  As a Scribe he was familiar with truth and as a Priest Ezra was familiar with grace.  The Bible teaches that grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.  Pray with me that Pastors, Evangelists, Teachers and the rest will share the word with a proper balance of grace and truth.  If this is not done legalism or licentiousness is the result.  A good balance will result in godly fear yet child-like faith that presents the true Jesus to the world.
Prayer Focus #3:  In verse 3 we are told that Ezra was a “street preacher”.  In verse 4 it says that he spoke from a high wooden platform.  This is the first pulpit mentioned.  Later Peter hoisted Jesus on his fishing boat as a pulpit.  Tonight, let us pray that messengers from heaven be raised up to preach in our communities whenever and wherever they have the chance to share the word of God and pray that we will be an Ezra – ready to give an answer to America’s challenges through the Word of God.
