Thursday February 27, 2014 “Shut the Door and Do it!”

2Kings 4:4-5  And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”
So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out.
First it is interesting that the Lord did not allow the miracle to become a circus “side show”.  The widow was instructed “close the door, then pour”.  The miracle would be one of mercy upon the widow and her boys.  God was simply honoring the family’s faithfulness.  The woman did all she was told to do.  She also discovered that the way to improve conditions is to use what we have.  As she poured, the oil multiplied.
Today our prayer of agreement is that Christians understand that most miracles will not be performed in a church sanctuary as a Wow! moment but most miracles will be private and the result of people taking God’s Word as truth and acting upon it.
