Nehemiah 3:2020 After him Baruch the son of Zabbai carefully repaired the other section, from the buttress to the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.”
The words repairs and repaired are used over 35 times in Chapter 3 of Nehemiah and it seems that everyone was involved.  I am sure that has something to do with the walls being rebuilt in a short 52 days.
There are people who stand out in this chapter.  Like Baruch in verse 20 of whom it is said, “He carefully repaired the other section” and verse 30 where we are told Meshullam made repairs in front of his dwelling.
Baruch’s earnestness and Meshullam’s care about his house must be combined to complete God’s work of restoring a nation.  As with Jesus’ command in Acts 1:8 to be witnesses beginning at Jerusalem we would be remiss to “save the world while losing our home.”
Pray today that God’s people will begin the cleanup and rebuilding with their own family.  When families are strong and faith is real, a nation is transformed.  The history of Israel reveals that truth.  Pray that believers whether that be parents or children have a renewed commitment to the reality that “you will be saved, you and your house” Acts 16:31.  There can be a very quick work of righteousness in the land if we begin by bringing our families back to God.  They will in turn spark a fire of faith in family and friends with their revived faith in Jesus Christ.
