Sunday April 20, 2014 “He is Risen”

Mark 16:4-7, 9-11, 15   But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large. 5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. 6 But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. 7 But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”… 9 Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. 10 She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. 11 And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe….15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Welcome to Easter 2014 and “We are the People”. Tonight we will agree in prayer concerning three focus points. We ask that you pray a minimum of 15 minutes between the hours of 6 and 9 pm (all time zones).
To one and all “Happy Easter – He is Risen.”
Prayer Focus #1 v.6 says the disciples did not see the risen Christ – they only saw an angel in the tomb. Pray tonight that all believers choose to become witnesses for Jesus Christ in their circles of relationships even though they might not have much first-hand evidence of the power of His resurrection. Thomas was witness to the risen Christ. Jesus told Him blessed are those who will not see yet they will believe.
Prayer Focus #2 Jesus seems to go to the worst first. Mary Magdalene had a very negative past but Jesus used her greatly as a witness. Pray in agreement that God would call many “not so good” Christians to be powerful witnesses in our day. Their testimony might not be believed immediately like with Mary but remember a prostitute named Rahab gave the children of Israel the key to Jericho. Who knows who God might use as the key to your city.
Prayer Focus #3 v.15 tells us that Jesus told his followers to tell the whole world that He is alive. As we go and tell, Jesus promised to be with us with signs and wonders.
Pray tonight that all believers in America see themselves as people God can use to transform lives. We can begin the work of God to reach our world beginning with the street we live on, the places we work and attend school.
