Wednesday December 17, 2014 “Breaking the Bonds”

Isaiah 58:6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?”
Yesterday we prayed in agreement concerning God’s people discerning the what, why, how and when of fasting according to God’s will and purpose.
One purpose is to “loose the bonds of wickedness.”  There is so much wickedness in the land today.  One might ask “where do we begin?”  Let’s begin with the wickedness Israel of old encountered with her neighbors in Canaan: idolatry.
Idolatry is two-fold.  It can be religious or material in nature.  In regard to religious idolatry this can be any religious system that does not have the God of the Bible and Jesus Christ as its only focus.  In the material sense, idolatry can be anything that competes with the Lord in the investment of the area of time, talent and treasure a person possesses.
Today let us agree in prayer that the blinders Satan puts on people to bind them to lies and the pursuit of things that usurp the place of God in the eyes of Americans be broken so there might be clarity concerning God and His demand for first place in people’s lives.
