Monday December 29, 2014 “Satisfy the Afflicted”

Isaiah 58:10 If you extend your soul to the hungry
And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,
And your darkness shall be as the noonday.
To be afflicted is to be cast down in torment and fear. There can be many causes for this posture in life. Addiction, hopelessness, ignorance, intolerance are just a few. As we approach a new year, let us ask God to help us share the love of Christ and the Good News of the Gospel with many people who are afflicted. In the Gospels there is the story of a woman who was bent over for 18 years. In one encounter with Jesus she stood upright once again. Let’s help people encounter Jesus and pray that they receive the Lord who alone can change the posture of a person in a moment’s time.
