Sunday March 22, 2015 “Dogs and Hogs”

Matthew 7:6 “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
Welcome to Sunday Night Edition of “We Are The People”. Thank you for joining us in prayers of agreement for this land we love and our fellow Americans. From 6-9 pm (all time zones) we will intercede following the three prayer points listed below. Please feel free to invite others to join us as we use the Sermon on the Mount as a guide.
Prayer Focus #1 Dogs and hogs were both considered unclean animals in Jesus’ day. The Jews used the terms to describe heathen Gentiles. Jesus is definitely referring to the pearls of Kingdom teaching and the bread of God’s word in the context.
Pray tonight that God’s people in America use wisdom in how they share Biblical truth with people who do not desire truth about issues that demand answers which will preserve freedom and righteousness in the land. We must avoid the truth being evil spoken of because we have attempted to “force feed” those whose hearts are closed to the Word of God.
Prayer Focus #2 The Apostle Paul tells us in 1Corinthians chapt 2 that only the spiritually-minded person can understand spiritual truth. Thus the truth found in Jesus’ words is that there needs to be teaching that is commensurate with the capacity of the hearers.
Pray that teachers and preachers in America know their audience and help people understand the ramifications of not following God’s ways on their level so anger is not the response of people who think we are just trying to control America and make it conform with our “agenda” as they see it.
Prayer Focus #3 In Luke chapter 23 when questioned, Jesus had no answer for Herod Antipas. Jesus knew when to use discretion. He not only understood the appropriateness of the subject matter He shared with others but also the timing. He demonstrated this when speaking to the Apostles. He said, “I have many things to tell you but you cannot bear them yet.”
Pray that Christian leaders, especially those who are politicians in America, understand the power of prudence (timing) when sharing their heart and values with the public. Slow to speak and quick to listen is a good guide to use when communicating truth.
