Sunday November 22, 2015 “Truth, Justice and Peace”

Zechariah 8:16 “16 These are the things you shall do: Speak each man the truth to his neighbor; Give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace.”
The words “truth, justice and peace” reminds me of “truth, justice and the American way.”  Those were the words spoken when the Superman television program came on the air in the last century.
Good evening and welcome to “We are the People” prayer initiative Sunday Night Edition.  Every Sunday night we join our hearts in prayer concerning three prayer points.  We are living in very challenging times that demand that we live by faith according to God’s word.  Let us lift our voices tonight to our King and elevate truth in “marketplace discussion” concerning vital issues of our day.
Give judgement in the gates for:
#1- Truth:  Pray that there be a return to truth as a foundation for life in America.  When the truth is compromised even a little it is like a building with a faulty foundation that can fall like a “house of cards”.  Pray that “a love for the truth” in the church will raise the bar of honesty which will help our nation deal with situations that come up in a godly manner.  Truth liberates and keeps us free.  John 8:31-32.
#2- Justice:  Pray that there be a desire in the hearts of those in the legal system and in our citizens to determine justice using the standard of the rule of law in America and not by precedence.  Righteousness that elevates a nation only becomes a reality as a standard rooted in the heart of God is upheld.
#3- Peace:  Pray that people in America have an understanding of peace in the land based upon the truth that compromising on issues to “keep the peace” is not an option.  It is peace based on unity through the “Prince of Peace” being Lord over all in speech, action and world view that strengthens a group of people.
**Please continue to pray for the injured and those who suffered the loss of loved ones in the Russian air crash and the attacks by extremists in Paris.
