Sunday January 10, 2016 “Diviners and Sheep who need a Shepherd”

Zechariah 10:2 “For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies,
and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday evening edition of “We Are the People” prayer for America.  We are continuing our journey through the book of Zechariah tonight.  It is asked that you invest a minimum of 15 minutes in intercession between the hours of 6 and 9 pm (all time zones).  Please pray in agreement with the focus points listed below and then pray as God leads you for our great nation.  Thanks for joining us and invite others to pray with us in 2016.  Remember there is also a daily prayer blog with one focus point Monday through Saturday.
Prayer Focus #1: The diviners envision lies, tell false dreams and comfort in vain.  Diviners are false prophets empowered by the demonic or by their desire to impose their will on others.  Pray that the lying tongues that deceive be stopped and that there not be a false peace in the land because people believe a lie that makes them feel good when they should not.  We must repent and turn to God to break us and then allow the Potter to remake the clay in our lives.
Prayer Focus #2: “the people wend their way like sheep.”  The word “wend” means to twist or wind.  In Isaiah 40:3 which is a prophetic word pointing to the coming of the Messiah, the word of God says, “Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”  God’s people twist and turn like they did when they were in the wilderness 40 years when they failed to obey God.   Pray that God’s people in America will not waste their time going in circles when God says to make straight paths for people to come to know the Savior.  Let us live as though Jesus is coming soon and herald the message.
Prayer Focus #3: “The people are in trouble (afflicted) because there is no shepherd.”  This is another way of saying, “like sheep without a shepherd.”  Pray that men and women with a shepherd’s heart in the church rise up to the challenge of becoming shepherds to America.  Shepherds lead the flock of God and help a nation stay on “the path of righteousness for His name’s sake.”
In this very pivotal year in politics let us also pray that the right person be elected president who will guide the citizens of this great land so that they might feel the safety and security of the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
