Sunday October 2, 2016 “God’s Special People”

1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
In an age when we have forgotten that we as Christians and specifically Christians in America, have a high calling from God – let us remember who we are.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday night edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Thank you for joining us tonight and agreeing with us in prayer for a minimum of 15 minutes between the hours of 6 and 9pm (all time zones) using the 3 focus points listed below.  Please get the word out to your family and friends so they can join us at wearethepeople.me.
Prayer Focus #1:  Pray that as God’s special people living in an exceptional nation, America, will be proclaimers of the praise due to Almighty God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son across this land of the free and home of the brave in testimony and song.  May this be done in our homes, schools, places of business and even in Halls of Justice and government.  Let the High Praises of God be on our lips.
Prayer Focus #2:  Pray that as the people of God we will have a renewed understanding of the fact that we are the people (the family) of God.  And that we will value the relationship we have with one another and the privilege we have to gather in churches for prayer, worship and encouragement.  Once we were not God’s family but God has graciously adopted us into the Family of God.
Prayer Focus #3:  Mercy triumphs over judgement for God’s children.  All born again believers must understand this fact and extend mercy to others as God has dealt mercifully with us.  Pray that God’s people in America will practice mercy – especially toward those who are still walking in darkness.  Our light of mercy will shine into their lives and break down the hardness and darkness sin has caused in their lives.
