Sunday, November 13, 2016 “A Great People”

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday night edition of “We Are The People” intercession for America.  We thank God for you as we partner together in prayer for this nation we love and count dear to our hearts.
It is asked that partners intercede for a minimum of 15 minutes between the hours of 6 and 9PM (all time zones) using the three focus points listed below.
God Bless you as you stand united with other believers who faithfully lift to God this land of the free and home of the brave.  Please encourage your friends and family to join us in our pursuit of righteousness being restored to our country.
JOHN QUINCY ADAMS, Sept. 1811 letter to his son, written as U.S. Minister, St. Petersburg, Russia:
“So great is my veneration for the Bible, and so strong my belief, that when duly read and meditated on, it is of all books in the world, that which contributes most to make men good, wise, and happy  –  that the earlier my children begin to read it, the more steadily they pursue the practice of reading it throughout their lives, the more lively and confident will be my hopes that they will prove useful citizens of their country, respectable members of society.”
John Quincy Adams read the Bible cover to cover for many years and he led the fight against slavery for 14 years.  His words are birthed out of a commitment to God and His Word.  Let us pray tonight according to his thoughts penned in this letter to his son.
PRAYER FOCUS #1  Pray that believers across the land will communicate the truth to the next generation that a person and a nation is truly good only when the Word of God directs the thoughts and the activities of its people.  We must not devise our own standards of right and wrong, good and evil.  Adam and Eve attempted that and it affected the action and attitude of their son, Cain.
PRAYER FOCUS #2  Pray that Christian parents will heed the advice of Adams in teaching their children at a young age to learn from the pages of the Bible how to be truly happy and not simply entertained in seasons of life by things that pass through their fingers quickly.  In America we have the opportunity to experience life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness based upon God’s Word.  Happiness is contentment and being sure of a God-blessed eternity – pursue these things.
PRAYER FOCUS #3  Useful citizens and respectable members of society is the end-game John Quincy Adams had in mind for his children.  A nation that is great is made up of people who know they have a great God.  Let us pray tonight that there be a revelation to all Americans that the God of the Bible is great and it is great to know Him.
