Sunday December 11, 2016 “No More Fear”

Genesis 35:4&5  “ So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree which was by Shechem.  And they journeyed, and the terror of God was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.”
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday night edition of “We Are The People” prayer for America. It is asked that as a fellow intercessor you will invest a minimum of 15 minutes in intercession between the hours of 6 and 9 pm (all time zones) using the three focus points listed below in prayers of agreement this evening.
God bless you for your heart for America and righteousness.  Please feel free to join us every day agreeing on one prayer point and do invite others to join us.
Prayer Focus #1  Jacob hid the idols under a tree (buried them).  This was to prevent the people from turning back to these worthless gods.  Small gods must be done away with.
Pray tonight that God’s people will choose to bury those things they trusted in, casting them into the “sea of forgetfulness” God casts our sins into when we repent and trust Jesus as Savior and Lord. If not, there will be the temptation to return to things once trusted in during times of stress.
Prayer Focus #2  Jacob had been a man who feared others, including his brother Esau but now others feared him. Why?  Because he and those with him sanctified themselves by ridding themselves of idols.  An idol is anything a person trusts in the place of God.
Pray in agreement this night that America see itself as a nation set apart for the one true God of the Bible. Pray that fear would flee as we stand strong on God and His Word.  Pray that we would have confidence that this is God’s way of restoring the fear of God regarding our nation‘s standing in the world once again.
Prayer Focus #3  v. 5  “The cities did not pursue the sons of Jacob”.  Pray that our nation – its citizens and leaders will have an understanding that there is only one true God we are under.  When we lead the “free world” in this way – the other nations of the world will not be able to threaten us with fear and we will not be afraid to declare once again that God has made us great.
