Sunday, January 1, 2017 “A New Year”

Philippians 3:13  13     Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
It is hard to believe but we have not only turned the page on our calendar we are now on page one of a new year.  Good evening and welcome to the Sunday night Edition of “We Are the People”.  Every Sunday we ask partners in prayer to join in prayers of agreement for our nation.  It is requested that you invest a minimum of 15 minutes in intercession between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. (all time zones).  May God richly bless you for your patriotic heart as we go before God for the future of America the land we love.
Prayer Focus #1  Paul knew himself.  He made great strides in his walk of faith.  From persecutor of followers of Jesus Christ to becoming the greatest promoter of the faith was his testimony.  But the great Apostle knew that no one fully “arrives” in this life.
Let us agree in prayer tonight that in every home and church in America that believers will have a reality check and hear the voice of God instructing us concerning areas of life in which we must grow spiritually as an individual and as a part of the Body of Christ in America.
Prayer Focus #2  Paul said, “One thing I do”, is to forget some things and remember that there is yet much ground to cover in my Christian walk of faith.
PRAY today as we stand at the very beginning of a New Year that there are both the bad and good things of the past we must forget.  Forget the bad for if we have asked God for forgiveness He throws all of our sin into the “sea of forgetfulness”.  Past bad behavior can hinder our faith to receive from God.
We must also forget the good things.  Remembering the good things can give us a self-satisfaction concerning the future and what we can do to make America a great nation for God in the days to come.
Prayer Focus #3  The Apostle knew that it would take much effort to reach forward for many things and people would attempt to block his way to the future.
Let our prayers of agreement on this first day of 2017 include Paul’s desire to intentionally reach into the future by faith.  Things don’t just happen because one has the desire for a better future.  It also takes planning and executing those plans to receive God’s best in the coming days.
May yours be a 3 John 2 New Year filled with health and prosperity in your soul and in all other ways be blessed.
