Sunday April 9, 2017 “A Sea of Bronze”

1 Kings 7:23-26  23 And he made the Sea of cast bronze, ten cubits from one brim to the other; it was completely round. Its height was five cubits, and a line of thirty cubits measured its circumference.  24 Below its brim were ornamental buds encircling it all around, ten to a cubit, all the way around the Sea. The ornamental buds were cast in two rows when it was cast. 25 It stood on twelve oxen: three looking toward the north, three looking toward the west, three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east; the Sea was set upon them, and all their back parts pointed inward. 26 It was a handbreadth thick; and its brim was shaped like the brim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It contained two thousand baths.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring  together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer this night.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
The Sea of Bronze was huge in Solomon’s temple.  It held 12,000 gallons according to verse 26.  This signifies that the work of the temple was gigantic.  This week we remember the death of our Savior in a special way.  The work of cleansing the world of sin through the cross of Jesus Christ was also immense.  Tonight in our three focus points we will discover ways we can pray as we approach the remembrance of the sacrifice and the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter.
Prayer Focus #1:  This “Sea of Bronze” was beautifully decorated with lilies, pomegranates and chains of bronze.  Let us pray this week as the church “ramps up” the message of Christ that we will be seen as the beautiful Bride of Christ by the world.  Pray that the unbelievers will be drawn by our righteousness and that they will be drawn by the Holy Spirit who focuses all attention on Jesus.
Prayer Focus #2:  This large “bowl” was supported by 12 oxen who bore the burden to see cleansing accomplished by the “God ordained” way of salvation.  Pray that all believers in Jesus Christ will invest time this week in a “burden” of prayer for hearts to be open to hear the Gospel and respond to the Holy Spirit’s call this “Holy Week.”
Prayer Focus #3:  The 12 oxen that supported the “Sea of Bronze” all were facing outward.  It is so easy to get caught up in the religious or the “fan” tone of Easter and lose focus of the fact that we are to look out to the whitened harvest and not just inward in our celebration this Easter season.  Let our focus be outward.
Pray that all believers in America personally invite others to celebrate this highlight of the Christian calendar and also support the work of God to take this life – changing, cleansing, work of God that forgives sin and makes us His children to the ends of the earth.
