Sunday April 23, 2017 “Lamps to Trim”

1 Kings 7:49 49 the lampstands of pure gold, five on the right side and five on the left in front of the inner sanctuary, with the flowers and the lamps and the wick-trimmers of gold.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring  together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide.
May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer this evening.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
The lampstands held the oil that brought light to God’s presence.  They were set before the entry to the inner sanctuary.  The wick trimmers were all made of precious gold.  We are the lamps that must be trimmed to provide a bright light for others to see Jesus.
Prayer Focus #1:  Pray that the church, who is the true New Testament lampstand, will experience a fresh infilling and overflow of the Holy Spirit.  We need His power to shine in the darkness of sin that grips this land we love.  Nothing less than the “the Promise of the Father” will do in the day that we live.
Prayer Focus #2:  The lampstand was at the entrance to give light to God’s presence in the Holiest place.  Pray tonight that the light we have will shine on the pathway that leads people to Jesus Christ through our words and deeds.
Prayer Focus #3:  The wick trimmers were used to cut back the wicks so that the lamps would shine brightly.  Pray that God’s people will allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives to the end that the church in America will be a bright and burning light to our generation like John the Baptist was to his.  The branches must be cut back to produce more fruit.  “Holy Spirit, have your way”, Jesus said.
