Sunday June 25, 2017 “God and His People”

Isaiah 44:28
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
For those of you who regularly follow WATP, you know that since the beginning of 2017 we have been using the Book of 1 Kings which covers the beginning of King Solomon’s reign as a prayer focus.
From time to time we have used other Bible texts at special times of the year. We will do this once again over the next two Sundays as we approach the Fourth of July when our thoughts are on freedom.
Isaiah 44:28   Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd,
And he shall perform all My pleasure,
Saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,”
And to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”’
Prayer Focus #1   It is difficult to understand but God who is our Good Shepherd refers to the heathen king, Cyrus, as “My Shepherd who pleases me.”
In the  Book of Hebrews chapter 11 verse 6 we are told that one pleases God through faith. A Roman Centurion came to Jesus and asked him to heal his servant. Jesus said that the man had greater faith than He had found in all of Israel.
Although at times it is hard to understand that God sees the heart and He knows the heart He can best direct in the ways of His will and purpose in the earth.
Pray that  believers in America will trust God’s judgement concerning who He desires to serve Him in government office.  Also pray that Christians be used to calm the storms of political polarization we are experiencing in America today.
Prayer Focus #2  God is the one who lifts up a nation as we read in this verse,  “Jerusalem, you shall be built.”  Because of bad stewardship Israel had been taken captive by enemies.  God speaks to the Capital city and says, “You shall be rebuilt.”  The very unlikely one to do this was King Cyrus.
Pray today that God’s will is to rebuild our capital city, Washington D.C. and all of the cities in America spiritually, socially and economically as His people seek the Lord and each one does his or her part in restoring this great land.
Prayer Focus #3  God spoke of the Temple being rebuilt. Individual believers and the church corporately is referred to as the Temple.
Let us pray that God’s people in America will lead the way – restoring the foundation of America, the teachings of the Prophets and Apostles and the Chief Cornerstone,  Jesus Christ, established once again as our hope and future.
