Sunday July 30, 2017 “God Be With Us”

1 Kings 8:57  May the Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers. May He not leave us nor forsake us,
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer this night.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Since the beginning of the year we have been using scripture from the days of King Solomon’s reign to guide us in daily prayer for America and our leaders. May God empower and inspire your intercession this evening with these focus points.
Solomon knew that the nation could have great armies and much prosperity but without God’s presence the people  would not have the assurance of the Lord Jehovah Shammah – the Lord who is there.
Solomon  prayed that God be with the people. His prayer was not “Lord be with me but with us.”  The king seemed to understand how the Lord’s  prayer is one of community. He is a God that all must encounter.  Solomon  understood that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was his God too.  Solomon’s prayer included the request, “Lord do not leave nor forsake us.”
Tonight let us pray in agreement according to the following prayer points:
Prayer Focus #1  that God be with us as our nation goes through a time in history when we truly need him as a solid rock of stability as we experience Satan’s attack upon our unity as a people that makes us strong as a people.
Prayer Focus #2  Pray that our leaders in Washington and throughout the nation will seek the heart of God for our future as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln did in their day.  Solomon knew that the Patriarchs of Israel sought the Lord and brought them and the nation to the place of humble surrender to God’s will.  Pray that America will find that same place of trust in God.
Prayer Focus #3 Scripture tells us that God is with those who are with Him and if we  seek Him, He will let us find Him.  Pray that all Americans will seek the Lord for guidance, grace, direction and provision knowing that God will not forsake His own who call upon Him with a sincere heart. The Lord sticks closer than a brother and is one who stays with His own through adversity.
