Sunday August 20, 2017 “Bless the Lord”

1 Kings 8:65-66   65 At that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great assembly from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seven days and seven more days—fourteen days. 66 On the eighth day he sent the people away; and they blessed the king, and went to their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the good that the Lord had done for His servant David, and for Israel His people.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer this night.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Since the beginning of the year we have been using scripture from the days of King Solomon’s reign to guide us in daily prayer for America and our leaders. May God empower and inspire your intercession this evening with these focus points.
There was a 2 week celebration before the Lord.  After the first week on the eighth day the king sent the people home to their tents.  Tonight we will pray in agreement according to the three focus points listed below.  May God bless you for your commitment to pray for America.
Prayer Focus #1  Pray that God’s people in America will bless our leaders as Israel blessed Solomon.  Some think that leaders don’t need to receive affirmation but they are human like we are and need to know that people are behind them.  If people refuse to follow, the leader can feel as though they are simply taking a walk
Prayer Focus #2  After the people blessed the King they went to their tents happy.  There is something about blessing someone that makes a person feel good inside.  Pray that God’s people will lead the way in finding reasons to bless our leaders so that joy and gladness will be found in our homes across the land.  Blessing begets blessing and we can all use more blessing.
Prayer Focus #3  The people blessed the Lord for all He had done for King David in Days gone by and they blessed the Lord for what He was doing for His people Israel.  Pray that we who are Americans will bless the Lord for all He has done in this land  in generation past and bless Him for His work in the land today.
