Monday December 11, 2017 “Old Age Idolatry”

1 Kings 11: 4 For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.
Old age brings with it many challenges but this would be the worst of all – to have your heart turned to other gods.  For this to happen in old age when one is closer to eternity would be extremely dangerous.  Pray that our leaders in their golden years will be shielded from those things that we trust in more than God.  Things like medical treatments to make one look “forever young” (but it is easy to tell the imitations of youthfulness).  Others make their retirement plans ‘god’ and there are many other gods that the elderly seek after like gambling.
Pray that our leaders who are seniors will not chase after other gods but may they use the wisdom of their years to set an example of true godliness to the younger.
