Sunday January 28, 2018 “For David and Jerusalem’s Sake”

1 Kings 11:32-33 32 (but he shall have one tribe for the sake of My servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel), 33 because they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the people of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring  together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer this night.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Prayer Focus #1:  The Lord had a special love it seems for David and David was “a man after God’s own heart.”  Because of this God left part of the Kingdom intact under Solomon.
Pray that our nation’s leaders will understand the blessing of “standing upon the shoulders” of godly men and women who have helped lead this great nation in the past.
Prayer Focus #2:  God said that He would preserve part of the kingdom of Israel because of Jerusalem which He has chosen for His temple and the seat of Israel’s government.
Pray that America will continue to take the lead in the challenge to restore Jerusalem as the capital of modern day Israel.
Prayer Focus #3:  In some ancient texts verse 33 begins by saying “he has” not “they have” forsaken the Lord.  So whether this speaks of Solomon or the tribes of Israel really doesn’t matter as much as the face people turned from God to idols and took on the values and cultures of other nations.
Pray that America will return in essence to truths of God’s word, our Constitution and Declaration of Independence.  King David did what was right in God’s eyes and the Lord blessed him and Israel in a great way.  He will do the same for us today.
