Sunday April 1, 2018 “Easter Truths”

1 Kings 12:32-33 32 Jeroboam ordained a feast on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, like the feast that was in Judah, and offered sacrifices on the altar. So he did at Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made. And at Bethel he installed the priests of the high places which he had made.  33 So he made offerings on the altar which he had made at Bethel on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, in the month which he had devised in his own heart. And he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and offered sacrifices on the altar and burned incense.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring  together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Here we are – Easter 2018.  How exciting it is to experience the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ in worship on this capstone of Christianity.  But we all know that Easter has become more than just a Christian holy day.  There are many competing voices and activities that vie for the time and attention that should be Christ’s alone.
Jeroboam ordained a feast to compete with the truth feast in Israel.  Sacrifices were made to the golden calves Jeroboam had made and all of this Jeroboam devised in his own heart.  Tonight, Let us pray that the reality of Easter will break through to many hearts in America and around the world.
Prayer Focus #1 Jeroboam ordained a feast like the real feast in Israel.  Pray that the many non-Christian religions, that may speak well of Christ but not proclaim Him as the one true King of Kings and Lord or Lords, will fail in their attempts to rob Christianity of our belief in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ on that first Easter morn.  Jesus’ bodily resurrection is the capstone of our faith.
Prayer Focus #2 Sacrifices were made to the golden calves that Jeroboam had made.  People make great sacrifice to celebrate what they call Easter.  Some travel many miles and make Easter a “family thing.”  To others it’s a time to vacation or take a cruise which sacrifices are made in other areas of life to enjoy what they have made Easter.  Pray tonight that true Christian celebrations of Easter with special music, Gospel outreaches, etc. which are the results of believers’ sacrifice of time, talent and treasure will bring forth much fruit.
Prayer Focus #3 Our scripture text tells us that Jeroboam devised all of the things about the competing feast in his heart.  Pray that the vain imaginations of the hearts of men will be brought down by the Power of the Holy Spirit.  Also pray that the truths of Easter birthed in the heart of God will be a reality in many hearts.
