Sunday May 6, 2018 “A Lion on a Short Leash”

1 Kings 13:28-29 28 Then he went and found his corpse thrown on the road, and the donkey and the lion standing by the corpse. The lion had not eaten the corpse nor torn the donkey. 29 And the prophet took up the corpse of the man of God, laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. So the old prophet came to the city to mourn, and to bury him.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring  together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
The old prophet did not gloat over the fact that the young prophet had disobeyed God’s clear command to not eat or drink in a certain city, yet he did and judgement fell upon the young man.
Prayer Focus #1: Pray that as the old prophet investigated himself to see if what his sons told him was true, that our older statesmen in America will not be a part of accusations and they will check out things to see if they be true before becoming part of a gossip trail that destroys men’s lives.
Prayer Focus #2: God only allowed the lion to go so far in his destructive ways. Pray that we as a nation will see that God can cut short the work of the enemy so that these will always be hope for the future. Remember there are three that abide faith, hope and love.
Prayer Focus #3: The old prophet saw what had happened to the young man and he did what was proper and then he mourned. This reminds us of the story of David and Absalom. Pray tonight that there will be proper response to foolishness that is done in our country. We must do what is proper and what will result in good fruit. Our leaders must be mature and not have the, “I told you so” attitude.
