Sunday, May 27, 2018 “A Man After God’s Heart”

1 Kings 14:7-8 7 Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Thus says the LORD God of Israel: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you ruler over My people Israel, 8 and tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as My servant David, who kept My commandments and who followed Me with all his heart, to do only what was right in My eyes.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer and invite others to join us.
Jeroboam may have been King, but God was still God. The Lord said the king was in the position because He lifted him up and gave him the position. Because of King David’s descendants lack of righteousness, God pulled the kingdom out of the family of David and gave the throne to Jeroboam. David is described as “a man after God’s own heart”. God desires all of us to follow Him with our whole heart.

Prayer Focus #1: Pray that leaders in America will realize that it was God who lifted them up to the position they serve in and that they will be good stewards in their oversight.

Prayer Focus #2: Pray that current and future leaders elected this Fall will seek to be righteous leaders who see the result of the lack of righteousness and turn the nation back to right standing with God.
Prayer Focus #3: Even though God removed the family of David from the throne, He remembered David who did right before God. David teaches us how to worship with all abandonment, to fight battles courageously and to repent quickly when confronted. Pray that both church and governmental leaders in America will follow the ways of David, “a man after God’s own heart.”
