Sunday, June 3, 2018 “Transparency Averts Destruction”

1 Kings 14:11-12 11 The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Jeroboam and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the field; for the LORD has spoken!” ’ 12 Arise therefore, go to your own house. When your feet enter the city, the child shall die.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer and invite others to join us.
This story in 1 Kings 14 began with King Jeroboam sending his wife in disguise to find out if their ill son would live or die. God exposed the deception and brought word that not only Abijah the son would die but destruction would come to many because of the sins of Jeroboam. Our verses tonight reveal the fact that running to city or country would not provide an escape. God also sent a word to Jeroboam’s wife that she would be the bearer and signs of destruction to come.
Prayer Focus #1 God cannot be deceived or mocked—man reaps what is sown. Pray tonight that in American politics there will be true transparency and not the usual “pork barreling” and hidden agendas. God sees and knows all.
Prayer Focus #2 It has been said that the armor God listed in Ephesians chapter 6 does not provide protection for the back, so we should not run from place to place seeking protection and shelter. Pray that as the brave Americans of Revolutionary times stood and did not run, our leaders today will not run in an attempt to escape judgement for unrighteousness done in the land. Destruction falls everywhere unless there is repentance and a return to righteousness.
Prayer Focus #3 The wife of Jeroboam had gone out from presence of the king as a messenger of deception. She would return as a sign of destruction. Abijah, the son of the king would die along with all of the males of the king’s household. Pray that our leaders in America will not be so enthralled with their successes that they miss the signs of impending destruction that can jeopardize future generations.
