Sunday, August 26, 2018 “Buying Samaria”

1 Kings 16:23-24 In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri became king over Israel, and reigned twelve years. Six years he reigned in Tirzah. 24 And he bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver; then he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, Samaria, after the name of Shemer, owner of the hill.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer and invite others to join us.
Those who know their Bible understand that in the time of Jesus, Samaria was a people and place of people who were half Jews and as Jesus told the woman at the well— they didn’t know who or what they worshipped.
Tonight our focus in prayer is upon the purchase, the building and the city of Samaria.
Prayer Focus #1 The King brought a place where people in the future would practice religion that was a mixture of heathen and true Jewish worship. Pray tonight that leaders in America will have wisdom and foresight in legislature and judicial decisions that will preserve our Christian values in this land we love.
Prayer Focus #2 Omri brought and built Samaria which brought division and confusion to God’s people. Pray that our leaders will not waste precious time on things of no profit now and in the future. Also pray that they will practice good financial stewardship building infrastructure that will last.
Prayer Focus #3 Ahab and Jezebel turned Samaria into an evil, idolatrous place in days to come. Pray that God will protect us from evil leaders coming to power in the future and give us leaders who have pure hearts—undivided and separated unto the Lord as we see the day of His coming drawing near.
