Sunday October 28, 2018 “Then the Rain Came”

1 Kings 18:1 And it came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.”
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer and invite others to join us.
Following the awesome miracle of the boy being raised from the dead we read in chapter 18 that it came to pass after many days.” It seems that after a great work of God in a life or a nation there is a lull of the miraculous. When that happens there can be a tendency to not expect the hand of God to intervene in the affairs of men.
In the context of 1 Kings 18, Israel had been suffering from a drought. Weather patterns would not change the conditions that prevailed for years but now after many days God would be on the move once again.
Prayer Focus #1: Pray that men and women of God will not lose their desire to hear from God when they have called upon the Lord for a long time with seemingly no results. There will always be an Elijah or a Samuel who will have an ear to hear “Thus saith the Lord.”
Prayer Focus #2: Ahab was the King and Elijah was known as “the troubler of Israel.” Elijah had to be courageous. Pray that God’s people will have courage as they stand before dignitaries with a word from the Lord.
Prayer Focus #3: God said, “you stand before the King and I will send the rain.” Pray today that God will send the former and latter rain of the Spirit upon America as God’s people are places in positions of influence and bring God’s blessing to our land once again.
