Sunday, November 11, 2018 “That Fear Be Gone”

1 Kings 18:9-12 So he said, “How have I sinned, that you are delivering your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me? 10 As the Lord your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to hunt for you; and when they said, ‘He is not here,’ he took an oath from the kingdom or nation that they could not find you. 11 And now you say, ‘Go, tell your master, “Elijah is here”’! 12 And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of the Lord will carry you to a place I do not know; so when I go and tell Ahab, and he cannot find you, he will kill me. But I your servant have feared the Lord from my youth.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. using three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer and invite others to join too.
Please pray for our many veterans today and tell someone you appreciate their service to America.
The “he” in verse 9 is Obadiah, a high ranking official in King Ahab’s administration. He has concern that if he tells the king that Elijah, the one with a prophetic voice is here, the king will have him killed, for Elijah was known as “the troubler of Israel.”
With the mid-term elections this past week we will have new people in positions of authority in America. Let us pray the following focus points concerning their political lives.
Prayer Focus #1: Fear always seems to come with each new challenge in life. It’s natural to have some apprehension. Pray that those newly elected representatives with a Biblical world view will quickly get past their apprehensions and stick to their convictions that got them elected into office.
Prayer Focus #2: There was a search for Elijah in many nations surrounding Israel. Did the King want to have the prophet give him a word from heaven or did he desire to take off his head? Whatever the case may be—pray that God’s people recently elected to office will courageously declare “a word from heaven can be found here” (the Bible) and not be afraid.
Prayer Focus #3: Obadiah knew that the Spirit of God can do all things—even transport a person to where a man or woman of God will be safe. Pray that God will keep those who serve us in government safe in these very volatile times that we live in politically.
