Sunday, November 25, 2018 “The Lord on Baal”

1 Kings 18:21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
After our thanksgiving emphasis we now return to 1 Kings as a guide and our prayers for America, the land we love. This chapter of 1 Kings reveals a showdown between good and evil, God and the false god Baal and its followers. It seems we are in this place in America so let us pray.
Prayer Focus #1: How long will it take? How is it that there are two opinions in the land? It seems the Prophet of God is saying “enough is enough.” Let us pray that there will be a sense in America that we must make a choice to follow the tested and found to be true old paths (Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Rule of Law) or some new ideas of government that has never succeeded anywhere or at any time in our world.
Prayer Focus #2: The people were challenged to choose their direction in life. Following God or the evil one was the choice to be made. Pray that God’s people will choose to draw near to God and reject all anti-Christian ideas that cause the confusion we find ourselves in today.
Prayer Focus #3: The people in Elijah’s day did not answer the call to only follow the Lord. Pray today that as the challenge goes forth to God’s people we will hear the voice of believers from all over America say as Joshua of old, “as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”
