Sunday, January 6, 2019 “Speak the Word”

1 Kings 18:44-46 Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’” 45 Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel. 46 Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
In verse 44 we see there was hardly a cloud in the sky. But just that tiny cloud convinced Elijah that the rains were coming. The prophet had such faith and conviction that king Ahab believed him when Elijah said, “Get ready—rain is coming” and Ahab called for his chariot and revved it up to the redline. Off for Jezreel he went at Elijah’s word.
Elijah then ran to Jezreel and when he did—the prophet beat the royal chariot arriving at Jezreel first.
Prayer Focus #1: Pray that God’s people will pray—speaking the Word over America with faith and conviction of the Holy Spirit. When Elijah did that, King Ahab did what God was saying through Elijah.
Prayer Focus #2: Elijah girded his loins “Pulled up his pants.” That enabled him to run fast and with endurance. Ephesians chapter 6 tells us to gird up our loins with truth.
Pray that God’s people will put a high priority and value on truth telling about what we face as a nation today. The Word of God is truth not what man feels about situations in life or what “prophets” imagine in their own thoughts.
Prayer Focus #3: When the king moved out upon hearing the word of the Lord v. 46 says “Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah.” Pray that our leaders in America will respond to what God is saying to them so that the hand of God will come upon the church to meet the challenges we face as people in America. When this happens the people of God will begin to take the lead in restoration of faith and righteousness like Elijah arrived at Jezreel before the king’s chariot on foot.
