Thursday, January 24, 2019 “One Night”

1 Kings 19:9 And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
Elijah had just experienced the miraculous. He lived 40 days on a “value meal.” Value because God provided it and it cost the prophet nothing. Elijah now spent one night in a cave. Yesterday, we discovered a cave can represent a place of hiding and a place of danger. Today, let us consider it a place of depression or despair, which we will discover in v. 10 on Sunday evening.
Pray that those on the front line of spiritual and political battle will not fall into depression or despair. When there are great victories like Elijah experienced on Mt. Carmel, there is then the danger of fear and depression.
