Sunday March 24, 2019 “Calling All Able Bodied Men”

1 Kings 20:15-16: Then he mustered the young leaders of the provinces, and there were two hundred and thirty-two; and after them he mustered all the people, all the children of Israel—seven thousand. 16 So they went out at noon. Meanwhile Ben-Hadad and the thirty-two kings helping him were getting drunk at the command post.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
King Ahab was told in previous verses that he must gather his men to battle readiness and he did. God had told him that he must mobilize the young men along with the rest of the men of Israel. Ahab was far from being a perfect king and his wife Jezebel had less than a sterling past concerning religious activity. However, in Ahab God saw a person who would listen for heaven’s command and carry out God’s will in the earth!
Prayer Focus #1: Pray that the younger generation will have a desire to hear and have a love for the truth that will bring them to the side of “rarely found”, common sense
concerning finances, politics, health care and education among their peers. Also, pray that these young people will be active in sharing their Biblical wisdom with their friends.
Prayer Focus #2: I guess Ahab’s call to the young men was more like our “all volunteer” military we have in America today. Only 232 responded to the king’s call but 7,000 others responded – the middle and older aged people of God. Later in this chapter, we will see that the young men played a very important part in the victory God brought to Israel against Ben Hadad and Syria.  Pray that God raises up the “232” who respond to His call and that they will use their unique giftedness to help protect our land and bring great victory for America in these days of unsure footings in many areas of societal and international affairs.
Prayer Focus #3: Ben-Hadad had an alliance to come against God’s people but were “drunk at their post.” Pray that we will have sober-minded people who have a heart for this land we love keeping watch at their post. Pray that these men and women will sense a calling from God to serve him as “watchmen” on this wall.
