Sunday June 16, 2019 “Ahab Heard”

1 Kings 21:27- 27 So it was, when Ahab heard those words, that he tore his clothes and put sackcloth on his body, and fasted and lay in sackcloth, and went about mourning.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6 and 9 pm using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
King Ahab heard from the Lord that his household would be cut off because of his wickedness and idolatry. Ahab responded with godly sorrow. Men, this is a good lesson to learn in life.
Prayer Focus #1: Ahab heard what God said concerning his lifestyle. Pray that our natural leaders will have a desire to hear what God has to say about their lifestyle, faith and world view.
Prayer Focus #2: The king tore his clothes (an outward expression of an inward taring open of the heart). Pray that America’s leaders will “rend their hearts and not their garments” Joel 2:13, as they are made aware of their sins and unrighteous leadership that will result in future generations being cut off from this land of blessing.
Prayer Focus #3: King Ahab fasted and mourned over impending judgement upon his people. Pray that there wold be an Isaiah chapter 58 fast among our leaders and countrymen in America hat will turn our nation and leaders back to God and righteousness.
Isaiah 58:6-14-
Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the [a]heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
And that you bring to your house the poor who are [b]cast out;
When you see the naked, that you cover him,
And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.
“If you take away the yoke from your midst,
The [c]pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
10 If you extend your soul to the hungry
And satisfy the afflicted soul,
Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,
And your [d]darkness shall be as the noonday.
11 The Lord will guide you continually,
And satisfy your soul in drought,
And strengthen your bones;
You shall be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
12 Those from among you
Shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of [e]Streets to Dwell In.
13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
