Sunday June 23, 2019 “Enquire of the Lord”

1 Kings 22:5-6:  Also Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.”
Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to fight, or shall I refrain?”
So they said, “Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday night edition of “We are the People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
King Ahab had already decided to take the area called Ramoth in Gilead.  He got support from his servants and then he went to King Jehoshophat of Judah.  In the preceding verse it seems that Jehoshophat agrees to help and then on second thought he asks that Ahab get a Word from the Lord.  Ahab gathered about 400 men and they agree that it is time to go up and take Ramoth in Gilead.
Prayer Focus #1  PRAY that there will be more leaders in America who would desire to hear from God before future policy and military actions are taken by our land.
Prayer Focus #2  Beroe Jehoshophat would fully commit to be in alliance with Ahab he wanted to know the mind of God.  But he did not “vet” the references carefully as we will see in future days.  PRAY that our leaders will know the spiritual values of others they align themselves with before they commit to an alliance in international affairs.
Prayer Focus #3  King Ahab surrounded himself with “yes men”.  So he knew the prophets would quickly agree with him.  PRAY that our leaders would not seek counsel and advise from people they already know would agree with them.  We need to have good critical thinkers as advisors to our leaders if we want a preferred future and the blessings of God.  Ahab just wanted affirmation by men and not direction from the Lord.
