Sunday September 8, 2019 “Don’t Come Down”

2 Kings 1:9-10 9 Then the king sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty men. So he went up to him; and there he was, sitting on the top of a hill. And he spoke to him: “Man of God, the king has said, ‘Come down!’ ” 10 So Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.” And fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday night edition of “We are the People” prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
King Ahaziah thought to control the great Prophet Elijah. He sent a Captain and fifty soldiers to “bring him down”. Elijah was not afraid to put God to the test concerning who he was and who God is.
Prayer Focus #1 PRAY that men and women of God will have a strong conviction about who they are in Christ and expect God to stand with them in the time of temptation to compromise and lose their sense of identity.
Prayer Focus #2 The King wanted Elijah to “come down”. PRAY that we as a people in America will not lower the standards to please or appease others. It is a time to be courageous and raise the Lord’s banner high.
Prayer Focus #3 PRAY that as the Captain and the “fifty” were consumed by the fire from heaven there will be a great move of God that will consume the works of the enemy that have come against our land from within and without.
