Sunday September 15, 2019 “Elijah Tests Elisha”

2 Kings 2:1-2 And it came to pass, when the LORD was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. 2 Then Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to Bethel.” But Elisha said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they went down to Bethel.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday night edition of “We are the People” prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us
Elijah the Prophet was truly a great man of God and his time on earth was about to end along with his powerful ministry to leaders of God’s people and his mighty miracles among men. Tonight, let us PRAY:
Prayer Focus #1: PRAY that our great Christian leaders will have people around them who will continue ministry in America after they step aside or go into the hands of the Heavenly Father.
Prayer Focus #2: PRAY for our great Christian leaders that they will have wisdom in testing the heart of their close prodigies to see if the Lord’s work will continue through this person or that. There is no evidence that Elisha was part of “the school of the prophets” but God had chosen him to carry on Elijah’s ministry.
Prayer Focus #3: Elisha could have been discouraged being asked by Elijah to wait behind in Gilgal while he goes to Bethel which means “the house of God” PRAY that those whom God calls to follow the many great leaders we have in America will not be discouraged or fail the test of followship. “I will not leave you” says Elisha.
