Sunday, September 22, 2019 “Miracles and More”

2 Kings 2:8-9 8 Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground. 9 And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”
Elijah knew that time was limited that he would remain on the earth. Elisha also knew his master would be taken away. With that thought in mind let us join our hearts together in intercession tonight.
Prayer Focus #1 The miracle of the water parting was awesome. The muddy river bed becoming dry ground making way for more miracles was timely and a necessary miracle. Pray that our leaders will see the necessity of “solid ground” policies and cooperation for miracles to happen in International Relations. God makes the way and man must follow on solid ground.
Prayer Focus #2 Elijah asked Elisha, “what can I do for you?” Pray that senior leaders in government will be sensitive to the needs of mentees. That they will be equipped to handle situations in the future by what they have learned from their mentors concerning past challenges they faced. Pray that they would know how to stand on solid Biblical principles.
Prayer Focus #3 Elisha did not request tangible things such as silver and gold, etc. He requested the spiritual –a double portion of the Spirit that Elijah possessed. Pray that all present and future leaders will desire first and foremost the spiritual blessings from heaven. The tangible blessings will naturally follow as we weeks after the righteousness, peace and joy of God’s kingdom.
