Sunday June 21, 2020 “What Troubles You?”
2 Kings 6:26-28 Then, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!” 27 And he said, “If the LORD does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress?” 28 Then the king said to her, “What is troubling you?” And she answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America.
Talk about desperate times. This is about as bad as it gets. The lady had enough sense to cry out for mercy and the king had enough sense to ask the lady if the Lord doesn’t help, how can I help you?
The Psalmist said, “My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth.” Let us consider these facts as we pray tonight.
Prayer Focus #1 The king realized he could not help the lady unless God was involved. Pray that the leaders in America – national and local will direct the nation to the Lord who always makes a way when we honor and follow Him.
Prayer Focus #2 The king said without God’s blessing the vast resources of the Kingdom will not be sufficient to meet the need. Pray that there will be a revelation of the need of repentance and trust in God, not in man if we are to see peace and rest restored to our land. Man will never find peace and satisfaction outside of God’s way of restoration by faith and love.
Prayer Focus #3 In Verse 28 the king wanted to know what was troubling the lady. I am sure that the king never thought that he would hear what he did. The lady had made a bad deal with another person that gave her son’s life into the hands of another person.
There are times when people do this and blame others for their child’s misfortune. Pray that
Americans take responsibility for their children – what they do and who they do it with. 1 Cor 15:33 “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
