Sunday July 5, 2020 “Sitting at the Gate?”
2 Kings 7:3 Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die?
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America.
Lepers at the gate without a chance for survival but they have the right question to ask one another.
The situation in the city seemed hopeless. In many cities of America, residents and business owners feel the same hopelessness that Samaria was under many years ago.
There are three standouts here: 4 lepers, one gate and one great question.
For sure we all do not have the 21st century “leprosy’ called Covid 19 but all of us are being affected by it either directly or indirectly. We definitely need to pray that this plague be eradicated from our land.
Prayer Focus #1 Four most unlikely men would turn the tide for the people of God. Pray that as researchers continue their search for medicines and a vaccine they won’t overlook the discoveries by those who seem unlikely to provide the answer to this awful pandemic.
Prayer Focus #2 The gates are places where beggars would receive donations that enabled them to live and they were also places where the elders would gather to discuss situations and make decisions for the city. The people had nothing to give these unfortunate men and there were no gathering of the Elders.
Pray that those who are less fortunate like the four beggars will receive some relief from their suffering and lack of good nourishing food and medicines. There are modern day people who have been “attacked on the road to Jericho” and are in need of a “Good Samaritan” to help them. Perhaps God will hear your prayers and send you to help someone in need.
Prayer Focus #3 There are times we feel like everything is just standing still like it was for the 4 lepers sitting and waiting to die. Pray that we in America will stir ourselves from the feeling of helplessness. Pray that we will consider the fact that sitting on the train track won‘t get us anywhere – well, unless the train comes by. We must search for new ways to find normal life restored in the U.S.A. Pray for breakthroughs in medicinal cures and vaccines sooner than later. Also pray that people will break free from the feeling of comfort living life in “the new norm.” God’s word, “I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers.” 3John 2
