Sunday, July 12, 2020 “No One’s There”

2 Kings 7:5&6
5 And they rose at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians; and when they had come to the outskirts of the Syrian camp, to their surprise no one was there. 6 For the Lord had caused the army of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and the noise of horses—the noise of a great army; so they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us!”

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.

Yesterday our focus in prayer was on the first part of verse 5. We prayed that we who are believers in America will come out of the darkness and shadows of life. We must lead the way “walking in the light” as Jesus is in the light. Today we will pick up on the last part of v.5 and then v.6 as we follow 3 points of prayer.

Prayer Focus #1 The 4 lepers left the gates of Samaria in desperation thinking that if they went to their enemies the Syrians perhaps they would have mercy on them. We should never look to the devil, our enemy, for comfort or provision but these guys were desperate, they said, “If we stay near Samaria who was under siege by the enemy or go to the enemy’s camp, the worst that can happen either way is we will die.” How sad. When they came to the enemy’s camp the 4 discovered that all of what they thought they would find was gone.
Let us PRAY that as we face our enemies in these days: Covid-19, demonstrations that turn to rioting, financial woes, destruction of property etc., let us as a nation always expect the worst. Let us not be surprised to discover it wasn’t as bad as the media tells us it is.

Prayer Focus #2 “The Lord caused the enemy to hear something”. God has not changed so let us agree in prayer tonight that “God will arise and His (and our) enemy be scattered.” What the enemy heard brought fear – may the spirits of hell hear that God is on the move and may that cause a division among their ranks and cause the kingdom of darkness to fall as Jesus taught.

Prayer Focus #3 The enemy of Israel, filled with fear, had vain imaginations. They thought that Israel built an alliance against them. The devil himself and all demons have no idea when Jesus will return and set up His omnipotent Kingdom, but they know that signs in the earth tell them it is soon.
PRAY that as Judah under Jehoshaphat had 3 great armies gathered against them and they all became confused and killed one another, that demonic forces will be filled with vain imaginations and fall powerless before the well-armed and watchful church of Jesus Christ in this critical hour of history.
