Monday July 20, 2020 “No Paranoia”
2 Kings 7:11-12 And the gatekeepers called out, and they told it to the king’s household inside.
12 So the king arose in the night and said to his servants, “Let me now tell you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry; therefore they have gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, ‘When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.’ ”
There was good news for the dwellers in Samaria but the king was paranoid due to so much trauma he and the people had gone through because of the Syrian besiegement of their city.
Pray that our leaders will not be cynical or paranoid as ideas are shared with them concerning the spiritual, physical, relational and financial dilemmas we find ourselves in. Paranoia that breeds fear should never be allowed to lead us into the place where we do not consider that things that seem unusual are not always bad. Could be like in this case – God had gone before the king to the camp.
