Sunday August 9, 2020 “The Land of the Philistines”
2 Kings 8:2 So the woman arose and did according to the saying of the man of God, and she went with her household and dwelt in the land of the Philistines seven years.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America.
The woman spoken of here had her son raised from the dead through the Prophet Elisha She remembered the miracle, listened carefully to the prophet’s words and went wherever she could as Elisha said.
Tonight let’s check out 3 prayer points from this verse to agree upon and see God move in this wonderful nation.
Prayer Focus #1 The woman arose and became a doer of God’s word of which the Apostle James wrote would bring blessing. There are many times when people dismiss a thought or idea later to realize it was a word from God. Let us pray today that researchers who are working on a cure for and/or vaccine for Covid 19 will have an ear to hear what God is saying to them.
Prayer Focus #2 The woman went with her household. Probably better understood is the family went with the woman. Pray tonight that as much as possible families will find agreement and safety as we face the challenges of a Covid world and the upcoming general elections.
Prayer Focus #3 Since the prophet told the woman of the house to stay wherever you can – this story reminds us of the Book of Ruth where Elimelech and Naomi went to Moab to weather the storm of famine in their day. Moab and the land of the Philistines were both non-Jewish lands. Pray that during these unusual times Christians will make good decisions as to what to do as we weather the storm. There are places where people can find “a shelter from the storm” but they are not the traditional places to look for a job, etc. yet God can provide the need.
