We Are The People

2 Kings 10:6-9   Then he wrote a second letter to them, saying:

If you are for me and will obey my voice, take the heads of the men, your master’s sons, and come to me at Jezreel by this time tomorrow.  Now the king’s sons, seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who were rearing them. ⁷ So it was, when the letter came to them, that they took the king’s sons and slaughtered seventy persons, put their heads in baskets and sent them to him at Jezreel. ⁸ Then a messenger came and told him, saying, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons.”  And he said, “Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.”  ⁹ So it was, in the morning, that he went out and stood, and said to all the people, “You are righteous. Indeed I conspired against my master and killed him; but who killed all these?

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.

Jehu sent the letter or “gave the word” and the elders executed the 70 sons of Ahab because of the evil he had done.  You see unless there is divine intervention, the sins of the fathers visit the sons. With this in mind, let us agree on the following 3 prayer focus points tonight:

Prayer Focus #1 Jehu knew that the evil line of Ahab must be cut off before it was too late for God’s people to survive such wicked leadership in the land.  Pray that God will raise up people with a Jehu spirit that will sound a warning across America that the enemy within must be cut off.

Prayer Focus #2  There were mentor-leaders in Jehu’s day that cut off the voice that would lead the land astray when Jehu sounded the warning.  Pray that there will be many leaders here in America that will be committed to the elimination of the voice of confusion and chaos that has “hi-jacked” the land we call home.

Prayer Focus #3  The slaughter of the king’s sons was a public display of commitment to rid the land of evil-doers. Pray that evil will be revealed in the land and that true reporting will emerge that makes a clear distinction between good and evil, right and wrong in America.
