Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide.  May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.

In the Temple, there was great celebration because a new king, young Joash, had been anointed king. When that happened, the wicked Athaliah went into a jealous rage. She had all the heirs to the throne killed except for Joash. Athaliah had ruled the nation through deceit and violence. Now her discovery that Joash was not only alive but also anointed, she was pushed over the edge.

Prayer Focus #1 Athaliah saw that Joash was positioned in the temple as the king, (standing by the pillar) which was customary according to the laws of the nation. Athaliah was “green with envy” at the point that the most unlikely person, a child, would become king.

In America, there has been much jealousy that has led to impropriety due to some believing they rightly rule like Athaliah thought of herself but even her violent response could not stop the plan of God. Pray that there will be a great move of God in our land that will bring down the people who rule by hatred and jealousy motivated to hatred and violence to do evil being convinced that the end justified their means.

Prayer Focus #2 The Bible tells us when the righteous rule, the people rejoice. The leaders and trumpeters were rejoicing at the prospect of what would come next. This also infuriated Athaliah. Her new song was a death dirge. She delighted in death and could not stand to see little Joash before her representing a future of life in Israel. Pray that those who love death in America will be exposed for who they are and what their end goal is. Also pray they who rule by violence and deception like Athaliah did will be dealt with.

Prayer Focus #3 Athaliah cried out, “Treason! Treason!” Its amazing how ones who are guilty of a crime attempt to point the finger at the innocent. Athaliah was guilty of treason against God and against the nation. She had sold her soul to the devil. That was obvious for she did the works of our adversary as Jesus revealed in John 10:10 “He comes to steal, kill and destroy.” Jesus and His children are always on the side of abundant life doing what is right.
