2 Kings 12:13 “However there were not made for the house of the Lord basins of silver, trimmers, sprinkling-bowls, trumpets, any articles of gold or articles of silver, from the money brought into the house of the Lord.”

There is such a move in American churches to display the silver and gold items of fancy buildings and technological wonders. In the rebuilding of the Temple under Joash, that doesn’t seem to be so important.  It wasn’t the absence of shining gold and silver that mattered so much as the rebuilding of the Temple.

The Apostle Paul tells us more than once that the believer’s body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Pray that gifts given to churches and other Christian organizations go toward building up the saints and not to impress the worldly crowd. Christ seen in one’s life is what draws people to our Savior.
