Sunday June 13, 2021 “Make Way for God”
2 Kings 15:35-38
35 However the high places were not removed; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. He built the Upper Gate of the house of the Lord. 36 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 37 In those days the Lord began to send Rezin king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah against Judah. 38 So Jotham rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David his father. Then Ahaz his son reigned in his place.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Yesterday, we discovered that Jotham did not do away with idolatry in the high places. He did build the Upper Gate of the House of the Lord. Then the Kings of Syria and Pekah the King went up against Judah.
Prayer Focus #1 Pray that our leaders in America will build gates that allow entry into the Kingdom of God in their decision making and not block the way for the people to come to the knowledge of Christ by wise, biblical decision making and legislation.
Prayer Focus #2 Because of the idolatry that Jotham sanctioned, Judah suffered attack from two kings. Pray that our leaders will not sanction or encourage in any way idolatry in America. We are one nation under the one true God.
Prayer Focus #3 Jotham died and his son Ahaz ascended to the throne. Pray that many of our leaders will be replaced in the upcoming Fall election cycle. The Bible tells us that covetousness is as idolatry. People who covet power and prestige must be removed from office and people with pure hearts must be put in office.
