Sunday June 20, 2021 “Call on God”
2 Kings 16:9
“9 So the king of Assyria heeded him; for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and took it, carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin.”
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Although it is true that Ahaz king of Judah needed help, he was willing to sell his soul to his enemy. Ahaz referred to himself as a servant and son to the king of Assyria. Let us pray against the spirit that draws men to a point of desperation.
Prayer Focus #1 Break the spirit that brings leaders to the point of selling their position as servants of God to find relief from enemies but in doing so they become enslaved to others. The latter end is worse than the first.
Prayer Focus #2 It wasn’t bad enough that Ahaz was willing to make the nation servant to heathens, he also requested that the enemy find him and all Judah to be the enemies “sons and daughters.” Oh how we need to keep our hearts connected to Father God and put no other “gods” before Him. Pray that the spirit of Esau who gave up his birthright for a little stew will not be found in America’s leadership.
Prayer Focus #3 Ahaz called the king of Assyria to come up and save him while God who waits to be gracious desires for His children to call on Him. Pray that God’s people in public office will call upon the Lord for help – not call upon our enemies for help in times of trouble.
