2 Kings 17:34 “ ³⁴ To this day they continue practicing the former rituals; they do not fear the Lord, nor do they follow their statutes or their ordinances, or the law and commandment which the Lord had commanded the children of Jacob, whom He named Israel.”

Jacob was a usurper and a deceiver.  God gave Jacob a new name like he did for Saul in the Book of Acts whom he renamed Paul.  The usurper, deceiver Jacob was renamed Israel which means a prince with God and man.  That meant he became a man of honor and influence.

In Revelation 2:17 we are told that the church at Pergamos members who overcame the prevalent sins of that day were given a new name.  Let us pray that God’s people in America will rise and overcome ushering in a season of honor and influence once again.
