Sunday, May 22, 2022 “Not to Boast”
2 Corinthians 12:5-6
“5 Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities. 6 For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above what he sees me to be or hears from me.”
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Paul would only boast of the infirmities he suffered for Christ’s sake. He would not “brag” about spiritual experiences.
Prayer Focus Point #1: Pray that the people of God will understand that many times we will suffer infirmities, loss, etc. as we make an impact for God. It comes with the territory. Pray that people will not cry and complain concerning the privilege to suffer with Jesus so we might reign with Him.
Prayer Focus Point #2: Paul held back some of what he knew to be too deep for some and if he shared those things, he might sound prideful. Pray that God’s people might practice that same attitude, so people won’t set them on a pedestal and set them up for a fall.
Prayer Focus Point #3: Paul said that he might be tempted to boast at times, but it would be foolish to do so he refrained from doing it. Pray that God’s men and women will understand that even when we have the right, it might not be the right thing to do.
