Sunday, May 29, 2022 “Humbled Before the Lord”
2 Corinthians 12:10-11
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.11 I have become a fool [a]in boasting; you have compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you; for in nothing was I behind the most eminent apostles, though I am nothing.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the three focus points listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Paul is repetitive concerning the way he handled adversity- he rejoiced because he was suffering for Christ’s sake. Paul discovered that during those times the power of Jesus Christ was upon him.
This Apostle gave of himself fully for the Gospel’s sake. He did more than the others, but it was not always noted by believers in the churches even though it was very obvious that he was a devoted servant of Jesus Christ.
Prayer Focus Point #1: Pray that God’s people will follow Paul’s response to persecution, etc. especially when they are in positions of prominence in the church or in governmental leadership.
Prayer Focus Point #2. Paul was clear about the level of ministry he provided. He was in touch with his own self. Paul understood that and he knew that people should have recognized God working through him. But he did not push the issue for he needed only the applause of heaven. Pray that gifted leaders in churches, government, business, etc. will be in touch with who they truly are and seek the applause of heaven not from men.
Prayer Focus Point #3: Paul ends these verses by telling us that even though he did more and was more effective than those who promoted themselves as eminent or super apostles. Pray that God’s people will humbly walk before God even when they are used mightily by the Lord.
